I have a dear friend who is awaiting the verdict from Columbia. I know this is incredibly last minute, but he would love to get an idea of his chances, so he can prepare for the news.

Essays: He has a really unique way of writing. You either "get it" or you really don't. They are very indicative of personality though, and are pretty fearless. Exceptionally well written, just very unusual style.

I know the "friend" thing must look really shady. But really, it isn't me. I'm accepted for NYU Drama, and no way would I get into Columbia. Check my other posts if you so desire. I care so much because we've been the closest of friends since... 2nd grade. But, that aside, any opinions of the chances?

hey, i sort of got accepted into nyu too (gsp.. how embarassing)... maybe ill see u there (dont think ill get into columbia at all). if you are telling the truth u are a really good friend.

I really don't know what to say. Average SAT I for Columbia, solid SAT IIs, being from Nebraska might help (not many applicants), good rank...

Your friend seems pretty borderline to me. Then again, you really shouldn't trust my judgement. Columbia2002 or Denzera would be able to help you more.

how the hell would u know his exact GPA 3.89 and exact scores?? There are way to many "friend" things on these boards. Just say that it is you and not your friend because ppl can see that anyways

Thanks mystery. :) I'm really, truly not lying. Although it really makes no difference either way, does it? The real matter is that I am curious if these scores have a chance at making it into Columbia. Who they belong to is a fact pretty irrelevant to any of the lives of the people on this board, isn't it? Even if I was lying to protect some grain of internet dignity (something I have no need of, frankly), it wouldn't change the fact that I am wondering about these statistics.

To answer your question Natalie, the "way in hell" that I know his scores is well... I asked him, and he told me. Crazy, yes? He and I are hoping to live in NYC together, as we have already spent the last 11 years being best friends. Is that motivation enough to satisfy your rather explosive curiousity? I do hope so.

OMG, he sounds way better than me, reading other people stats make me feel like there no way in hell i'd get into Columbia, i keep the faith though, for whatever that's worth...anyway i think he sounds amazing, incredible for that matter... also i applied to NYU too and i haven't heard ANYTHING from them.... i'm beginning to freak out.. when did you hear form them?

WHAT DOES IT MATTER IF ITS FOR HER OR HER FRIEND? MY GOSH..........CHILL PEOPLE!
My cousin goes to Columbia and had very similiar stats, ironically also a fencer but was not recruited, he was initially waitlisted but got in by May. Wish your friend luck, its safe to say college admissions, more than ever is a total crapshoot.
