<p>I was standing in front of the house this morning, taking out the recycling bins. I was thinking about the McNair and wishing that we would find out one way or another about any type of $ from USC.</p>
<p>Suddenly, a DHL courier truck pulls up in front of me! It was freaky.</p>
<p>Unfortunately it was only a boring book for my H.</p>
<p>But wouldn't that have made a good story if it had been a McNair invite? :-)</p>

Keeping my fingers crossed for you! The wait is positively agonizing.
Last year, S was back from the McNair weekend and first got notified about an interview weekend for a U Michigan scholarship (so late...)..but after visiting USC his mind was made up.....</p>
<p>Well, no Fedex truck today, hopefully tomorrow!</p>

<p>man, i really didn't think my college application process would be this tumultuous.</p>

<p>It would be helpful to future applicants if those who were denied entry to the Honors College would share their SAT and GPA stats. Thank you!</p>
<p>jubilee...don't give up hope. Last year, DD did NOT get into the honors college OR Capstone...but she did receive a McKissick Scholarship which would have given her $2000 per year plus in state tuition costs. She chose to go elsewhere (but it was not an easy decision), but the offer was a terrific one. Honestly, if she had gotten into Capstone or Honors, she would BE at USC. But ultimately she decided the school was too large without that "smaller" honors type environment. BUT don't give up...not yet. You too could get a scholarship of some kind. DD got that letter...oh geez...I'm guessing end of Feb. maybe even beginning of March. We were all VERY surprised.</p>
<p>thanks thumper1. i wasn't sure if the rejection would mean the end of a scholarship possibilty, so that's good to know. </p>
<p>and to namtrag, they didn't mention waitlist, but they said i could reapply to transfer into the honors college after my freshman year. </p>
<p>as for my stats, they're out there, i don't feel like posting them on here for scrutiny.</p>
<p>Fed Ex delivered the McNair letter this morning. Our schools are closed because there was a chance of 1" of snow so D was home (and still in bed). It's a very impressive package.</p>
<p>D tries to be cool about all this so I haven't asked if she wants H or me or both to attend with her. It says there are 41 finalists.</p>
<p>Congrats, only 90 out of 1600 apps get McNair or Carolina Scholars offers, so you should be very proud! </p>
<p>What are you going to do with all the money you save? hahahahaha</p>

H and I both attended as it was an enlightening way to see the school (insights you wont get on normal visits).They will make the additional travel arrangements for you so all plans match.
Where are they housing you this year?
Please let me know if you need info re :what clothes your kid should bring,etc.

Dont forget...as long as you are invited your kid is guaranteed at least finalist status which equals $11,000 per year plus reduced tuition.Plus laptop,fully loaded.</p>
<p>My d got the fed ex package too at 9:30 this morning. I opened it and texted her the results. I haven't heard back from her but she doesn't usually check her phone during the day so it may be after school before she knows. She'll probably be mad at me for opening it but she's not going to be home until about 10:00 tonight and I couldn't stand the suspense. She will be very excited and we look forward to seeing the campus again. We went after her sophmore year for a tour so it's been awhile.</p>

<p>I also found out TODAY that I am a finalist for the Pogue Scholarship at UNC and the Ingram at Vanderbilt. I'm flying to 3 different places within 7 days in February. I am in disbelief. I spent 3rd period on the phone with my mom crying. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH</p>
<p>Man everyone is getting it, so our odds are steadily going down.</p>
<p>Still have to say congrats to everyone who got it so far!!!! You guys all deserve it, and I just hope we have a note on the door when we get home from work today (my wife works with me). Does fed ex leave a note????</p>
