I know why I'm transferring - but what do say?

I'm transferring because my school is a joke. What's the best way to put this? Is saying things like "poor intellectual environment" and "large, impersonal classes" too crass?

THis is jus me but don't focus so much on why you don't like your current school but rather why the new school fits you etc..

agreed. take anything you can say negitive about your school and let them know they have the opposite...but leave out the negitive in the first place. "large impersonal classes" at your school means you are interested in X's "close-knit, personal classes" and so on.

I agree with mylifeisover23

Writing about your negative points pertaining to your school is essentially just nagging and complaining to the adcoms.

Focus more on how the new school will benefit you in a very positive way and make the adcoms think that this school will be the right match for you!

i had the same problem...

what i did was talk about how my classes at my previous schools were "one-dimensional", and emphasized the point that in the cut throat world we live in, its important to be multi-dimensional and have a breadth of knowledge in all areas of academia.

you cant go wrong with that. look at me, it landed me in an ivy league school. best of luck to you man
