My recs should be excellent and I'm trying to work on my essay...

I know I really need to work on my SAT and ACT, but anything else?

As of now, not good chances. Being white won’t help you at all. GPA is good. And everyone will put together good extracurriculars and essays and recs, so very unlikely those will make much difference. Get either your ACT to a 33-34 or a 1500 math + CR SAT. Vandy doesn’t consider the writing section at all.

Get your test scores to that range and you should be good for ED 1

What do you mean they don’t consider the writing?

Your SAT score will come in 3 parts. You’ll have the math section, the critical reading section, and the writing section. The writing section will come with your essay score. Vanderbilt only considers the math and critical reading sections in the admissions decisions. They don’t even look at the writing or essay score. You could get a 200 or 800. It will make no difference in if you are admitted. They just consider your score out of 1600 ( the math and critical reading parts).
