I know you want this kind of attention, Kebree :)

I also hate it when schools I am not applying to call me! One person who called me talked about a football game I could go to for free. Then she asked me if I was still interested in the college and I said no. Then she asked me where I was applying and when I told her HYPS and some others she was like "Wow!" and then asked me what SAT scores I got. Basically she forgot about the college she was promoting. Another interviewer got mad when I told her I wasn't interested in the college she was calling about. I had never even heard about it before. Ugh!!!

I got a ton of stuff from Wash U because I put myself on their mailing list for an application and also gave my address to an admissions officer when she visited my high school. Suddenly I was getting two of everything, and with Wash U, it's a ton of stuff.

And I, too, hate it when admission ppl call me at home. I always feel so guilty. Someone from the University of Dallas called once:

UD: Do you have any questions about applying?
Me: Um... no.
UD: Oh good! Are you thinking of applying?
Me: Um... I thought about it (I didn't) but I probably won't. I've applied early to another school.
UD: Oh really! Can I asked where you applied?
Me: Yale.
UD: Oh... goodbye.

About 5 schools think I'm applying because I felt too guilty to outright say no. I always hedge and say "I'm working on the application as we speak". And when they ask if I need their contact info, I always say yes and actually write it down. Now I just never answer the phone.

lol exactly! Nobody in my family answers the phone if it's a number we don't recognize. All my friends reach me by cell phone so I never even bother to walk up to the phone and look at caller ID

I just don't like answering phones that much period :X too many people block their numbers and it's stupid.

you can block people with blocked numbers...

I have only gotten one call and I count that as a VERY good thing. (The person was from a small college in rural CO I'd never heard of and she hung up when I mentioned something about Princeton. Haha.)

lol
I got a call from Sacred Heart but I wasn't home so whew...

In the summer though, I got a call from Harvard's minority recruiting thing, and this guy left message. My mom was convinced that Harvard was dying for me (and that the caller would make a nice husband) oyy

As an intl, the only one who sent me stupid amounts of stuff was Wash U - I briefly considered them, then saw that practically everything they sent had that picture of that tower building thing on the front (and inside cover, and every other page), and that kinda put me off. I got some random letters from U of Bridgeport and some college in Oklahoma sent me emails (a lot were about scholarships, as apparently they offered scholarships based on your SAT score, but my score was above the upper limit for their highest scholarship (1370 or so) so I decided that meant I wasn't going to get a scholarship and ignored them) and they then started sending me blank emails...
My friend got harrassed for two weeks by UVa students and alumni after he was accepted - he recieved emails from six current students, two phone calls from alumni in Singapore, all begging him to consider UVa.

omg all of the Washu stuff is pictures of that one damn tower taken from different angles. I have received so much mail from them that I felt compelled to apply. I probably have a 360 degree view of that one building. Washu was the first one to contact me ( 8th grade) I also got stuff from a lot of other no name colleges

the only times I became really excited was when Hahvahd, Yale, Duke Amherst sent me their apps. Pton however does not deign to acknowledge my existence. Maybe I will go back to my lonely dark corner and cry myself to sleep....

jk

It's ok if you haven't acknowledged me yet Pton, I still love you (kinda sounds like a soap opera no?)

The first college to contact me was Carleton College, and I was so excited!! I started collecting them, and my dad said that before I go to college, I'm going to end up with a whole shoe box full of letters. I was like, No way! By the spring break of 10th grade, I had a large laundry basketful. I returned every single reply card (yes, every single one of them). I have since been harassed by these colleges for two years. The good colleges didn't start contacting me until 11th grade. So many letters, but none from Princeton (:() none from Columbia, and only a dinky postcard from Yale. Has anyone else found it funny that Harvard has no reply cards? All the other colleges have reply cards that you have to send to the college if you want more information. Harvard sends a letter and says that the viewbook and application are coming later. Pretty funny how they just assume that anyone who gets their letter would want more information.

got a box full of letters... doo do doo do doo! (singing) la la la la la la!

Oh my god, I'm so dumb! I thought that I'd be caught by the 60 sec rule, so I waited for the time thing on the bottom of the page to go form 12:02(last post) to 12:03... not realizing that the time doesn't change until I refresh the page.

My first college mail was from Yale, freshman year - I took the PSATs and did quite well, especially for a Sophomore - I was totally in love with them for quite some time, really until I got lost in New Haven and was really scared...

Wow, how did you get mail from Yale freshman year? Did you take the SATs in middle school for a talent search contest?

Nope. The only standardized test I took was the PSAT - I was 96% then, so they probably wanted to jump on it early?
