I am transferring from a private university in Texas to UT Austin. Majoring in Computer Science (international student)
I currently finished 26 hours without transfer credits.
My grades are,
Philosophy A-
Social Science A
English A
First Semester GPA is 3.89
Calculus I, either B or B- or C+ (4) hours
Communication A-
NSC A-
ELV A
Fine Art A
These grades are my approximation to it because its still in progress.
My GPA could be either
3.668 or 3.614 or 3.721
I am trying my best to keep it as 3.721
As you see the sum of the hours that are in progress and finished are 25, UT website states that should be minimum of 24 hours.
I have obtained 7 hours transfer of Algebra and Precalculus and I might obtain 6 hours of transfer in foreign language.
total 13 +25 = 38 or if the math credits is not acceptable with the foreign credits my total is 31.
My IELTS test score is 6.5
Good essays.
Good resume.
A lot of actives.
5 great recommendation letters.
Please can you help me to know my chances for acceptance and my credits in precalculus and Algebra can be accepted?
I think you are reading the internal transfer requirements. Those require 24 hours in residence in order to apply. NOt sure how this will affect / apply to your application. I would say call to verify?
Yes but I have already have 32 hours so I am not concern about it . And yes I am international . Thank you for your response though .
Also I am wondering if they accept transfer credits of Precalculus and Algebra , I took a clep test on that.
Demonstrated interest and ability in their desired field
Strong overall grade-point average (GPA)—see our Transfer Statistics for more information
Credit for Calculus
A minimum of nine credit hours in first year math and science courses for science majors
A grade of A or B in all math and science courses
I don’t know what NSC and ELV stand for -are they sciences? I would not expect algebra and precalc to fulfill the 9 hours of math and science. They won’t make you competitive.
You need that B in calculus.
UT gives credit for the algebra Clep but not precalc. You can accept the credits at your current school and transfer them to UT and use them for elective credit in your degree plan- at best.
But if you want to know for sure- you should call.
