I like Columbia more than ___________ :D

I like Columbia more than Cal, UCLA, Boston U, NYU, Cornell, Dartmouth, Penn

Pigs, You got into MIT right? Will you be going there?

I like Columbia more than Princeton, Yale, Brown, UPenn, Cornell, Stanford, Chicago, Tufts, Johns Hopkins, Carnegie Mellon, Boston U, Northeastern, and RPI. (aka anything that isn’t MIT. But I got rejected do CC is now my #1)

I like Columbia more than Harvard.

From my experiences…
The atmosphere is not as academically orientated, in a good way, and is more conducive to a college experience. The city of New York and its rich resources more than make up for any shortcomings for its campus, or lack thereof. Finally, the actual class for underclassmen are more engaging. Whereas the Harvard classes I sat in were heavily lecture based, Columbia’s classes were more student led. While the professors opined, the students’ thoughts were often heard and encouraged.

I feel Columbia would enable a better college experience for my personality type. This fact leads me to like Columbia more than Harvard.

I like Columbia more than making CC serious business.

dorime, I appreciate your praises, but have you taken a look at the campus? Sure, it’s smaller than Harvard’s. But I could just well argue that being small makes it more unified and distinct; plus I like how I don’t have to walk far to classes, despite Carman’s outrageous distance from the academic buildings.

I’m not sure if I totally agree with you about the classes either; there are lots of big lecture classes in popular departments like Econ, Math, Psych, and the sciences. (however the core is truly an asset in bringing more discussions)

U$C.

University of Southern California = University of Second Choice.

^ Haha I’m sure nobody wants to go to the University of Second Choice (unless they had to, and I’m not talking about USC btw).

Basically I like Columbia a lot (and I’ve heard of many alumni who are doing well in life), but I might pick HYPS and Brown over Columbia if I had to. Any other school to me is inferior that Columbia.

At Epaminondas:

I’m somewhat confused by your comments on the campus. I said I found it a bit on the small size, but that fact doesn’t lower my opinion of Columbia. It’s just one aspect I hear many people dislike. I personally am unaffected by the size of the campus.

My statements on classes maybe unreflective of the classes as a whole at either university. I can state from my visits at Harvard and Columbia, where I sat in on a small intro psychology class, that I preferred Columbia’s professors’ teaching style in the classrooms I observed which is how I formed my opinion.

If I were to be admitted to either, I’d be ecstatic. Less than two weeks remaining…

I like Columbia more than any other college I’ve ever visited, Harvard being a close second. Columbia has been my dream since the 6th grade, and nothing about that has changed. When I walked onto both campuses, I really had the feeling that I just… belonged.

Other than colleges though, I like Columbia better than cheese, and that’s saying a lot because I adore cheese (especially brie, just like fuzzybunny). I like it better than java chip frappucinos, better than all boys except maybe two in this world, better than NYC alone, better than summer nights on the beach, better than cookie dough ice cream, better than roller coasters, better than the internet. 10 DAYS!!!

I understand your concern, and I’m not thrilled that pigs started this thread, but I don’t think this is an Ivy ****ing contest. Rather, it seems to be a way for applicants to give individual reasons why they like the school.

only school i’d choose over columbia (where i have a likely) is yale…
