I live near UCLA!

So, I just moved and I live less than 2 minutes away from UCLA. I'm in a community college right now, hoping to transfer there in 2 years. How can I use my location to my advantage? I seriously live so close by and I pass UCLA every day, surely there is something I can do to possibly increase my chances of going there? maybe participate in something they have on campus, etc?

any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks

Honestly, I think the best thing you can do is complete the TAP at your CCC.

Are you familiar with grand larceny? I have heard this is a great way to acquire tangible assets in a short amount of time. UCLA does like ambition!! Go get 'em tiger.

jvn, take summer classes at ucla. If you plan on transferring with a major that requires additional courses completed only at ucla, you can get those out of your way before you transfer so you can jump right into the upper-divion major courses.

I think dhl3’s right on. I think there must be some uncertainty on the difficulty of a cc class on the part of the admissions department, but if you take some classes AT ucla (and do well), there really isn’t a question that you’re up to snuff.

Find out who the transfers admissions readers (or as UCLA calls them, “evaluators”) are and get acquainted with them, bring them some Starbucks, the newspaper, get them gifts on Christmas…
