<p>If you want to work in astrophysics itself, it’s pretty much a requisite that you have a PhD. Even then, you’re going to have to be the cream of the crop. Astrophysics jobs are very competitive.</p>
<p>Nonetheless, the knowledge and skills you earn while pursuing an Astrophysics Ph.D. are invaluable.</p>
<p>Well before you go into astrophysics, you need to learn physics.</p>
<p>NASA has programs for high school and college students to do summer internships. </p>
