I love barnard

i love Barnard college! but i’m not exactly a STELLAR student … i have pretty decent stats … about a 3.8/3.9 gpa … good leadership roles … involved in extracurriculars …and i’m just working on my SAT score which is giving me alot of trouble … right now i have a 1740 but i plan on taking the SAT 3 more times
so hopefully it will increase

does Barnard only accept students with really high stats … ? because i WOULD LOVE to go to barnard but idk how i stand. how can i make myself stick out in the application pool?

I think you stand a good chance based on your past performance and your love for the college.
Now, about the SAT. Do you think you did less well because you were nervous. Women on average perform below what might be expected based on their knowledge. Conversely some men do better than we would expect. Many people think this is because of a different response to stress. I would take a bunch of practice tests so that you get used to doing this. It might lower your stress. Another reason to take practice tests has to do with the math section: it is based on Arithmetic, Algebra and Geometry. The better math students are taking precalc and calculus, so they are at a minimum one year away from what's on the test. Take the math practice tests, analyze what problems you miss and then do it again. In this way you can build up a set of problems to go over the night before the exam. The math section is not about how much you know. It is about not making mistakes. It is the easiest section to make big gains on.

Try the ACT. You may perform better on that format. At least try a practice and score yourself.
