I think you have a great shot at Brown because of your SAT and GPA, but I think you are somewhat cookie cutter Asia. I hope that you can have done some extraordinary extra curricular activities to set you apart to make sure you are in.
I am very interested in research and I read that you did some work at MGH?
I would love to here more about this! Thats kind of my dream hospital…where I’d like to end up working! =] I wish you good luck!

Your stats are awesome! But as with all schools like Brown, that won’t cut it. The course rigor might be questionable, especially since they’ll only be able to see 1 AP score from you while other applicants will be sending in 10 AP/IB scores for evaluation. But nice SAT I score!
As for EC, good not great. I don’t really see a focus or clear passion. All of my friends volunteer/ work at labs (I’m not a math/science person). You should pick something and make it spectacular in the next few months. Really should do ED if you like Brown! Good luck!

CHANCE BACK =) http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1164754-chance-columbia-upenn-uchicago.html

Thanks for the advice guys! What I’m seeing across the board is that I need to get more unique and write good essays! Definitely true!
@collegebound247: oh dear, I don’t think I’ve done anything too extraordinary :P. That seems to be the problem. And yep, I intern at a MGH lab in charleston, it’s super fun! It’s my dream hospital too :).

DEfinitilely awesome gpa and sat scores- GREAT work there. Your ec’s are also pretty decent and reflect your interests so that’s really good too. send in that music cd. Also, make sure you don’t put yourself off as cookie cutter Asian - Make yourself look way different from them all and you’ll be fine! good luck!!!

Chance me back? Appreciate it :]

everyone who’s been saying high match, keep in mind that Brown’s admission rate in 2010 was the 4th lowest in the country and in 2011 we had an even lower admissions rate. Even for us “lesser” Ivies, we are by no means not a reach for everyone except recruited athletes, but rather “you’re in the running.” At least that’s my take on it.

That being said, I think you stand a good shot (seeing as I think you have better stats than me when I applied). However, you MUST (and I cannot stress this enough) nail your essays. If you don’t, you’re running on thin ice my friend.
