I LOVE GWU and DC, please please please chance!!!

My strength is academics but I'm not sure if my extracurriculars are too weak. SAT is decent but I'm not sure if it's good enough to get into a top school like GWU. Is there any hope for me?! What are my chances? Would GWU be a match, high match, low reach, reach, high reach???

i’d say you’re in. i was told the mid range for SATs was 1850-2050 so you’re right in there and the number 8 class rank is pretty impressive! good luck!

Very strong GPA and class rank. Your SAT I score overall is in range but definitely not at the top of the applicant pool. Your EC’s are a little thin. I’d say you are a very high match and therefore you have a realistic chance of acceptance, imo. Good luck!

Thanks guys! yeah, thin ec’s is what i was afraid but hopefully academics will help compensate. thanks again! any other chances?

Good GPA
Great class rank
Test scores are within range, might be worth trying again.
ECs are weak.
Are the essays amazing?
You have an average to upper average sounding application. What makes you stand out?

Took the SAT one last time before the deadline on Dec 4, scores come out next Tuesday.
Essay is still a work in progress, but I’m not expecting anything mind blowing.
Havnt started the supp essay
Reccs I’m assuming are going to be decent, but, again, nothing mind blowing
Beyond what I put above, idk. I’m not a URM, recruited athlete, super poor/rich or anything ridiculous like that. Just a great academic student w/o many ec’s, and ambition lol. So considering all that what would you put my chance at like percentage wise. I think GW and NYU are my two super crazy longshot reaches so yeah…

Also, I’m not expecting a massive increase on SAT, but I have hope. Won’t know until Tuesday so wish me luck! But for the purposes of this chance thread, assume I’m applying with my CURRENT scores. I’ll try posting my scores on Tuesday tho

I’m a current freshman at GW, applied RD with a campus visit, strong recommendations, and no interview. Also, I’m from NH too!
Your GPA/rank/SAT IIs are better than mine, your SATs are only 100 points lower. A little light on EC’s but I wasn’t super strong there either. I also volunteered during the 2008 elections and I reported that.
I think that you have a strong chance of being accepted, best of luck!

Thank you so so much! Always good to talk to a fellow new hampshirite

@gwgrad so what would u put my current chances at?

The scores are in the scores are in!
Forget all those other scores
December 2010: 2000 (CR: 670, M: 670, W: 660)

Updated chances anyone?

I think you’re a match, Zoidberg93. Congratulations on your recent SATs. Best wishes & good luck!!!

Thanks! Really? A match?! I was thinking reach but thanks! That gets my hopes hope!

submitted my common app. bump to the top

You are going to get in. I did and your grades are much better than mine. I had really good ec’s though, but my SATs were not much better than yours.

You’ll probably be fine. A lot of this stuff is luck anyways. Good luck to you!

You have a good shot. Your grades are good and the new SATs will be a big help. Good Luck. My daughter loves GW. I am sure that you would too.

Did you apply ED or RD? Your stats look competitive. Your ECs are light but hopefully you focused on your stronger ones on your app and in your essays.

Our daughter got in in large part due to an outstanding essay-it was outstanding because it was clearly personal to why GWU was the right match for her and vice versa. Good luck to you.

Zoidberg93 - I may have missed it, but have you visited GW? Interviewed? I assume you’re applying RD?

The reasons for the above is that GW is a school that takes into account “Demonstrated Interest” as they say in the college admission lingo. Essentailly, GW wants students who want them. If you can’t interview (i.e. NH), then make sure your essays reflect your interest in “GW” not just DC.

Regardless - I’d take you!
