Here’s a follow-up on “Demonstrated Interest (DI)” with college admissions. My “S” was waitlisted and eventually denied from Johns Hopkins last year. Why? Well his HS guidance counselor inquired and they say he “never” interviewed on campus. Well, he grew up in Baltimore and had always been interested in Hopkins and been on Homewood campus a lot. Hopkins is a big-time DI school. Of course we found this “fact” out too late and the decision process was done.

However, things sometime work out for the best - he is very happy at GW.

FYI/My opinion.

I applied RD, and have not interviewed and have not been able to visit. I could visit at the end of the semester, but I’m not sure if it would be too late to make a difference. In my essay, I discussed how my interest in politics drew me to D.C. and GWU, the many internships and research opportunities GWU has available, the wealth of resources that I would have access to at GWU and DC (Smithsonian Institute, National Archives, Folger Shakespeare Library, Library of Congress, etc), and what I liked about the academics at GWU (specifically the Deans seminars and university writing program).

Sounds like you covered the bases!

Best of luck!

WWould visiting by the end of the month affect my admission chances at all…or is it too late?

Decisions Thursday…I’m scared s***less…keep chancing

Zoidberg: I am scared too, this school is my number 1, so fate will be sealed on the 24th. Good luck to all of you guys!

Keeeeeeeep chancing
