I love NYC

Reason enough to attend NYU? I visited the city a couple weeks ago and thought it was the coolest place I've ever been to. I could definitely see myself there for my college years. We went on the tour and checked everything out and then we walked a ton throughout Greenwich Village and Soho. I went to Washington Square and really liked the idea of Hayden, sitting right there across from the park, and waking up to so much activity. Seemed like a really safe area too. But there really wasn't much that I did with NYU while I was there, other than check out the area and the buildings (they're so scattered we couldn't find the main office - talk a/b planning ahead). Those of you that go there, other than the city, what do you like a/b the college and is the city a good enough reason to attend NYU?

Visiting and living here is different.

i would say it's a good enough of a reason, but not for the $40,000+ that you're paying each year to attend-- that you should probably have a great academic reason for

yup visiting and living is surely different.

These taxis and fire trucks are waking me up at 3 in the morning

Haha, no offense, but everything looks cool when you're coming from texas. ;)

did u visit brooklyn?

Why are you asking about Brooklyn?

Im a freshman right now into my second week, i loved the city before i came to nyu, i didnt rele want to end up at nyu but now i am having the time of your life. considering what i have done in the past few weekends and welcome week i realize that i could never have done most of those things at a non-city school. if you love the city, you'll love nyu.

sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet

yeah i visited brooklyn.

goyoungha - true.

yes visiting vs living here is different.

when i visited the first time, i thought nyc was okay, but it wasnt really what i had expected. i decided to come anywhere because i knew the program suited me best out of the colleges i looked at.

now that im actually living here, its only been a week and i feel more at home than i ever have in my life. and im NOT the kind of person that is comfortable everywhere. so just wanted to add that in.

its probably too soon for me to comment on the classes and stuff since im a freshman, but so far i absolutely love everything. but i probably would say dont pay the $40k+ a year unless nyu really specializes in your field or you have a lot of money and can go wherever you want.

yeah i'd be goin for finance so it's worth it

New York is the place to be. Unless you are from a conservative, rural background.

Yea, Texas is just full of hicks and farms and people riding their horses to the saloon where drunks and whores run wild. It's not like it has any actual Metropolitans or major cities or much less the internet and electricity...

(BTW...came from Dallas. I didn't come to NYC b/c it was cool. Yea, the fact that anything you could ever want is within walking distance, but that's about the only difference from other Metropolitans. And I came for the Drama program...I think the problem with this board is people saying things just for the sake of saying something, when they actually have no experience with a situation, etc. You probably think I'm being dramatic, but that's better than being an idiot.)

:)

So it is established. Get out of texas. xP

Woah, who said anything about Texas lindsey? Someone's a little defensive about something that wasn't attacked. There are rural places in every state, it was a general statement.

2nd, the fact "that everything is within walking distance" is what makes the city so great. And we really don't walk everywhere, there is a thing called public transit(aka the MTA).

Actually, I was the one who brought that topic up. (See post #5)

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure she was replying to me. If not, I apoligize.

I wasn't replying to you elreyde...I don't even know how you could think I was replying to you...

And, I don't know about you, but I generally walk to get to the subway station. That's just me, though...

chill out. you make every thread you post in a war. i thought you were replying to elreydeelmundo too.

Lindsey is a feisty character when she reads my posts.
