I grew up in texas, lived there from before 1st grade til 8th (near Dallas if it matters), but then moved to Southern California for 8th grade and high school because of parents work. At this point its between USC, UCLA, and UT and Stanford if i get in

But I loved Texas. Hell I went to the Rose Bowl and Cheered Texas on against Michigan and USC (that was awkward though)
anyhow
I am really interested in applying to Texas, mostly BHP, but I guess its insanely difficult to get in.
I am number 2/750, 2240 on SAT, 730 on USH and probably high 7 on math2 ... 33 ACT, have a bunch of leadership in school clubs and whatnot... But I don't know how hard they are on out of staters
So do I have a fighting chance for BHP?

If it means anything, I'll trade my spot at Berkeley or UCLA for UT with any of yall instater's

thanks!

Should I include that I am from Texas and aint some hippy liberal Californian in my essays ;)

I think it would be way cheaper to stay in cali.. not to mention that the schools there are just as good. And I think the hippy Californian is ideal for austin lol.

I'm from California and got into BHP for this upcoming year. I had fairly similar stats as you, so it is definitely a possibility, although your specific leadership roles may play an experience; I'm still not entirely sure how they choose people.

Also, if you are a national merit finalist, UT will actually be cheaper than a UC, I know it is for me.

you have a great chance! i would fill out the scholarship app. if you get a $1000 scholarship from texas you automatically get in state and quite a few oos students get in -state (especially with your stats).
