I love UCI's pre med, but I am not sure if i'll enjoy my stay...

What I am asking is whether it is true that UCI is boring over the weekends because there are a lot of commuters?

No… UCI is very fun on the weekends…

The commuter thing is really exaggerated when people talk about uci. Yes, some people go home on the weekends. I’m not going to lie.

That said, the majority of the other UC’s are the same way. This is because many are in populated, suburban areas.

Just remember that a huge proportion of the student body is from nor cal, and they aren’t going home on the weekends. Also, I know many people who live nearby, but choose to stay at campus merely on principle, so that they are receiving the “true” college experience.
In other words, there are a lot of people who stay.

You should also know that uci is currently constructing new dorms, which will allow 50% of the undergrad student body to live on campus- the highest of any UC.

you’ll like it

plus your med

you can always go to the hospital on weekends…

dude UCI is the next best thing after sd…take it! oh and the party scence at some of those rich houses in the OC, damn!

and the ETA of these dorms are? Hopefully in our time? Or is it later?

^fall of 2010

[Today@UCI: Press Releases:](http://www.today.uci.edu/news/release_detail.asp?key=1830)

I believe these “dorms” are actually the next phase of apartments for sophomores (like VDC and VDCN). With luck, UCI will not only be able to provide great places for their 2nd year housing guarantee, but perhaps won’t need to kick out everyone after their sophomore year. And they’ll be ready just in time for the incoming freshmen (i.e., Fall of their sophomore year)!

Too bad we won’t be there to see it

Actually, Haiku, if the new apartments are for sophomores (or at least gives preference to them as part of the 2nd year housing guarantee) and you’ll be a sophomore in Fall of 2010, then, well, the timing is perfect.

^Oh okay

I looked at the site and was like “Oh well, too bad for me!”

will there be themes?
awesome
