I Love USMA... just thought I would share that with you.

USMA doesn't love you... just thought I would share that with you.

I still love USMA... just thought I would share that with you :-)

umm the point of this thread?

wpwannabe what SLS session are you going to try to get into? I think if everything works out with getting my schedule changed for USAFA SS then I will go to USMA's second session hope to see you there

Sorry, but this thread is making my slightly nauseaous... I might have to go puke...

Bad day, marines4me? Sure hope not.

Okay, "I love USMA" is great and all, but do you know why? Judging by what I've gleaned from the cadets on this site, "love" for good ol' West Point disappears pretty quickly when you've got a cadre member spitting and screaming at you. Just something for us all to think about.

My mom yells at me every day and it wouldnt be anything new for a stranger to yell at me either

Oh yah!? Well yo mama wears army boots!

(Sorry, I just had to say it;))

tn48th... A couple days ago I recieved my confirmation packet for Week 2 SLS. Now I just have to set up my flight, etc. Hey, any of you guys that have gone before: will WP give me a place to stay the night before the session? Because I have to fly in a day ahead of time and if I don't have to pay for a hotel room that would be nice. Did anyone have to do this last year maybe?

Oh, and I do love the idea of west point... the reality will be a lot harder though, I know!

hey wpwannabe, excellent news about your acceptance to SLS. Did your confirmation packet actually state which session they had placed you in? or did you have to pick? or had you already filled out all the registration forms?

I got my registration packet a week and a half ago. I should have it sent in by the end of the week once I can find a physician to go to lol. I am going to request I be put in the 2nd session since Boys State interferes with the first one. so I hope to see you there. feel free to IM or PM me anytime so perhaps we can get to know each other before we go.

Past SLS participants, did yal find that you generally got put in the session that you requested?

If you love USMA, you are in for a big shock when you get here.

The idealistic meets the cynicals...

I already got and sent in my reg packet. I was accepted in early January... took me a couple weeks to get everything in, and I picked week two. This week I got a letter and info packet that said I got week two. They're very prompt with their responses. It's nice. As long as you get it in soon you should get the one you wanted. Boys' state Oregon is the week directly following SLS, so I'm gonna be busy. I get a 8-10 hr flight cross-country, a day's rest after a week-full of 5:45 wake-up calls, then off to the races.

Love is a strong word. Don't fall in love with a blind date before you've met her.

If you show up a day early...

hotels: I thought you had to be 18 to get a hotel room, maybe not so if you book it ahead of time (?)

transportation: know how you'll get around -- taxis can get expensive, car rentals say you have to be 25, and I'm really not sure about transportation

alternative idea of the new century: you COULD bring a sleeping bag, get a taxi or hitch a ride to this great (haha) hotel called the Leperchaun (or something like that), stay there for free overnight, and then hitch hike the rest of the way to West Point

:)

hahah, not a bad day, but I thought I loved West Point too. I found out that love was much too strong of a word... That maybe Detest was a better choice... :)

Hehe... I know, I know... I'm being ideological. Blame it on the liberals.

dictator... I already know how i'm getting there--taking a 737 to Newark then getting picked up by an academy rep... or i think so. I just was hoping that they could find me somewhere to crash for a night before.

marines4me... any idea if this would work out?

(I could always call them of course... but I thought I'd check here first)

West Point pays for no hotel accomodations the night before. However, they are pretty leanient about kids coming in late on the first day. Also, a few kids' luggage did not make it to West Point for a few days so make sure you have a carry on.

On an unrelated side note, I remember a kid that came in late to our SLS and his room # got mixed up during in-processing. Later that night, the cadre thought they had lost a kid when they looked for him in the wrong room. So I get shook awake from a dead sleep by my sergeant at 2 am, who demanded my name, squad, and platoon. He left within seconds, so I was convinced that I'd been dreaming when I woke up, that is until a fellow squad mate said, "You know what, I had the wierdest dream last night...."

-This concludes envee06's random SLS memory

haha thats funny
