I"m Asian, I'm Male. And I'm also Lazy. Yar.

I'm just very curious at how other people view what I've done.

Stats: Korean Male in CA. One of the top public schools in US
Top 10%, most likely top 5% once 1st semester is over

GPA: 3.98 UW (1 B+ Freshman year)/4.25 Weighted

SAT: CR 760/M 800/W 750 (Essay 11)
Bio M: 770
Korean: 800
Chem: 800
US History: 800
Math II: 800

APs: Chem 5 US History 5 Biology 5

Course schedule: Pretty much as rigorous as could be. One detriment is that I didn't get on the accelerated math and I'm in BC Calc as a senior (rather than as a junior)

ECs/Awards:
Internship at same Lab in Stanford in Anesthesiology for 2 summers+School year (I put in 40+hours a week Summer of '08, and a bit less Summer of '09, continuing to work during the school year)

About 200 hours from a Homeless Shelter where I've been working since Freshman year, where we cook breakfast for them. I basically act as the coordinator for the workers outside of the kitchen and set-up/clean-up.

Boy Scouts, most likely will get Eagle Scout.

Member for 4 years and Treasurer and VP of Academic Competition Club

2nd Place in National Ocean Science bowl, top 12 in National Science Bowl, tied for 11th in NAQT Nationals (Quiz Bowl) (Out of 192 teams), 3rd in State in Science Olympiad

Co-Founder and Treasurer of Outdoor Activites/Camping Club (Inactive now)

2nd-Dan Black Belt in Kendo

Finished Advanced in CM (not worth much)

Essays will be pretty good. My writing varies widely depending on topic, so some will be excellent, some will be decent.

Letters of Req: One from US History Teacher will be excellent. She really liked me. One from Chemistry teacher will probably be decent. Supplemental req. from my Professor at Stanford will be excellent.

Major: Pre-med. Probably Biochem/BE and History double major.

Schools
(Our school has a 6 school limit I think, so I'll just list the pool I'm considering right now)
Stanford (top choice) (probably EA)
Harvard
MIT
Princeton
UPenn
Columbia
WashU (scholarships maybe?)
Yale

EDIT: UC Berkely, LA, SD are safeties. (combine 70-90 go to Berkely and LA from my school every year)
Appreciate it guys.

you need a safety

Safeties are UC Berkely, UCLA UCSD. My bad

Not to be a total spelling/grammar nazi, but isn’t it spelled “safeties”?

FAIL. yes.

Okay, now that that’s corrected…

I think it’s looking pretty good. ECs are a little stereotypically “Asian” but the Stanford internship is impressive nonetheless. 2310 is good. GPA is good. Being from a top school will help.

To me it seems like you are a MSJHS student and the Stanford thing looks like volunteering at the Anesthesiologist Clinic.

what school do you go to? o:

haha, felix linked me to this, so ill just do it for you

Stanford -70%
Harvard - 20%
MIT - 40%
Princeton - 30%
UPenn - ?
Columbia - ?
WashU (scholarships maybe?) - 85% lol.
Yale - ?

in other words, you’re going to get into pretty good schools.

Ok…I have to comment that it’s spelled Berkeley:) haha, sorry, had to say something.

Anyway, I think you have a good chance! Obviously the Ivies are unpredictable, but I do see you getting into a few of those on your list. Best of luck!
