I’m in my third year of college and it took me 3 tries to pass my college algebra class the first two times I got D’s but the last time I got a B+ And this semester I took pre-calculs failed the class with a 55% that and F. Meanwhile I passed my computer programming and computer science classes with A’s and I really l enjoyed doing the course work. But I have some computer science courses the required me to take some math courses. I don’t know what to do about my struggle in math, I stick of failing too. Should I just switch my major to sometimes less math heavy or stick it out?
What are your options within the computer science umbrella? Sometimes CIS will require less in terms of math. If you stay (and curriculum and math requirements vary from school to school), but you are likely to need Calc I & II and maybe linear algebra and stats (probability). If retaking the math is going to add semesters to your program, you may want to look at other options.
There are schools out there that have CS or IS degrees which only requires a discrete math class, not even calculus. I’m pretty sure there was a thread on this about 6 months ago.
