I’m missing 7 days!

I’m a straight A student. I’ve done well in math up until now. I’m in Pre-Calc and I’m doing somewhat alright understanding the material. It’s only the 2 week into Pre-Calc and I will be missing 7 days of school between the next two days. I just want to know if anyone else has been in this situation and what they did. Staying after school with the teacher will be hard because I will be starting track as soon as I get back from the 7 days I’m out. I’m just looking for some advice. Thank you.

If this is really important to you I’d talk to my track coach and get permission to meet with the teacher first and then go to practice. I have two high school kids - one in public and one in private. At the private school you would be expected to meet with teachers and “take care of academics” before any time at practice. All coaches would not only be understanding but expect you to do this. For my child at public school it seems to be a demerit if you are late for practice because you go to a class after school. I don’t get this. Some of the practices at the private actually start after a HW time/academic after school time so students can fit all this in. I don’t think the education at the private was better but it sure taught my child how to be a student and to value education more than the public.

Good luck! BTW, I hope your reason to miss 7 days is a good one or your teacher might be miffed at giving up his/her after school time to work with you. If it is for vacation…no sympathy here. Nor should your teacher give you any.

Perhaps you can ask your teacher for the work and material ahead of time so that you can get a head start on the assignments. When you return, if not possible to meet after school, find time during lunch to discuss the material/assignments. Ask your peers for assistance as well. Ask your coach for permission to meet with your teacher a couple of days out of the week to get you caught up.
