I’m ready for the spring semester!

But no to take again cold showers or having college food… Any JP freshmen around here?

You're a student at Wash U? My sophomore daughter thinks the food there is FANTASTIC. As for cold showers, she lived in a modern dorm. Where are cold showers an issue?

Kids get tired of eating always the same as everybody else, but there are Schnucks or Whole Foods and for many it’s a solution.
My kids say they let the water running until it gets warm before taking a shower early in the morning, it’s still cooler than at home but they got used to it. The ones living in the fourth floor in modern dorms have problems with water pressure, so if you have the chance to pick your dorm, avoid the last floor. The buildings don’t heat their own water, it might get colder when gets to the farthest buildings from the main heater.

NUGraduate, many students like to eat fast food all the time, you D could be one of them. I don’t like St. Louis style in cooking veggies, too greasy to my taste, fish is ok, there is no good fruit; some meals are overpriced.
Cressmom, water pressure is a problem not only on modern dorms unless you are a night owl.

I've lived in traditional dorms for two years now, and I always get a better shower at school than at home in terms of water pressure and temperature, so I guess it does vary dorm to dorm. But I do agree that Bear's Den gets boring after a while....so I'm stocking up on my mom's cooking while I'm still home : )
