Okay so I got into all the UCs I applied to (SD, SB, And LA) and yesterday I SIRed to UCLA. I looked over the admission contract and checked the list to make sure everything is in order. I went to check on my uc app because it said that all info must be the same as official records and I got paranoid. I noticed I had mistakenly put an A instead of a B for one course.
The course was marching band and i only put a mistake in the second semester grade, also it was a class I took freshman year.
I’m freaking out now because I’m afraid UCLA will rescind my offer over a stupid mistake. I’m a first generation college student and I didn’t have anyone helping me, and I didn’t notice the mistake the many times I looked over the application. Does anyone have any info on similar situations or what to do? It honestly was just a mistake and I would never intentionally lie on an application. I can’t call today, but I’m planning to call all uc admissions tomorrow and explain.
Just call and explain. No matter what we say it is upnto admissions. You may get denied but my gut feeling is they will let it slide. The most important thing is that you are honest and upfront. The course is not a core course so it should be fine. I doubt an A in marching band got you into UCLA. Don’t worry too much and congrats!
I hope so. I just feel sick to my stomach over it, honestly.
100% sure they’ll understand; besides, it’s marching band - although I do love the activity myself, it’s not necessarily the best indicator of academic success :P. It definitely didn’t impact your admission decision. Congrats on the acceptances!
Honestly it really doesn’t matter, just send a note or something.
When you explain the issue, emphasis on the fact that you took the class as a freshman and REMIND them that, as such, it is irrelevant in GPA calculations for UCs!
Ya, I wouldn’t be worried about this at all. You can send a note to get it off your conscious, but it is not a deal breaker. It was marching band!
@Emarieb123 I really don’t see that as an issue. But send them a msg and let them know. It’ll be fine. Congrats!
@Emarieb123 Did you find out what the admission officers said? I made a huge mistake myself
@march24 they said everything was fine, because it was marching band in my freshman year so it did not affect my uc gpa or something like that. Sorry for the late response, probably not super helpful anymore but i just saw this right now! Good luck to you!
