I took the SAT a while ago and got a 1520 /2220. I was very happy and sent the score to one of my dream schools - UT austin. I took the ACT after a few days of prep for lolz recently, and got a 35, but realized UT already received my worse SAT score (It is my understanding that a 35 is better). Is there anything I can do now? I want UT austin to give me the best chance of getting in, and now that they have my bad score, im worried... Please tell me what I can do!

Yes, you can send your ACT score. Do you really think UT will hold a 2220 against you? Really??

Yes, because the SAT is worse!

Send in your ACT score obviously. And did you get a 1520 or 2200…? Very different scores

Confused. Isn’t the average SAT score of UT Austin like 1850? What’s the HUGE mistake?

How do you get 1520/2220?

1520 Math and CR only, for some reason prople on here dont count the writing section.

770 Cr 750 Math 700 Writing
35 Act

The reason some don’t count writing section is because some universities (like Cornell) don’t look at writing

Your score is way above the average for all categories.

1520/2220 is a very good score. I don’t see why sending it would be a mistake at all.

But you should go ahead and send your ACT score also.

I am not in the top ten percent of my very competitive high school. Ut rejects most people who dont make top ten percent so I need all the points I can get.

bump

10 char

Maybe I’m wrong, but I find it really hard to believe that a school with an average admissions SAT score of >1900 only accepts candidates that are in the top 10% of their class.

JoBenny, the University of Texas at Austin has a policy of automatically admitting the top students (I think it’s top 8%) from every high school in the state. Once that top tier at every high school in a very large state get admitted, it doesn’t leave a lot of room in the class for students who have to compete. That’s what Techdude is worried about.

But, Techdude, you’re worrying about entirely the wrong thing. Your original question was, to be frank, ridiculous, and Erin’s Dad gave you an answer that’s not only correct but also sensible. So please, take Erin’s Dad’s answer from yesterday, and thank him for it, and stop bumping this silly question.

Why are you sending scores now? It’s June, not time to be applying for schools.

But you can send scores this early. When colleges or universities receive them, they just open a file on you, and they add other parts of your application to it as they come in.

Thanks guys, I guess I don’t need to be worried. :)

I was wondering I have a 3.7 gpa 25 act what schools can I get into top8% texas resident what texas schools can I get into in texas tamu I am also black from Africa if that helps ut Austin or Texas tech

135pipe, you should really start a new thread for your question.

And you should probably put it in either Chances or College Search.

Sorry thanks

Oh my goodness, you only sent your terrible score of 770 CR 750 Math to that university?? What ever will you do. You might as well give up right now, there is no way you will be accepted with those terrible scores.

/end sarcasm

You should be fine. Just send your ACT scores as well. They will count the higher score.
