I made the wrong decision.

I was under a lot of stress over choosing colleges and I know I made the wrong choice. I submitted my deposit and I was not happy at all. I'd rather not name the colleges, but they are absolutely comparable, two of the best schools in the nation, but I know I've made the wrong choice in submitting my deposit to one. Is it too late to do anything?

Call both schools and see if the one you didn’t select will accept you now. You won’t be the first. But first, think about what made you select the other school instead. There must have been reasons.

Pressure, mostly. A lot of people expected me to go there and that colored my views on wanting to go there. The thing is that it’s not what I want.

Call the school you said not to and see if they will still accept you – if so, find out what the process is. If your preferred school will take you get the paperwork signed, sealed, and delivered first and then withdraw from the first school – it happens when people get into a preferred college off of a wait list etc. but expect that you will lose your deposit. Call now before they go to their wait list!
