My friend and I wrote one another's recommendations--and we are both applying to Dartmouth. We are totally chill and not competitive (I laugh when I see people on this forum not advise one to seek a recommendation from a fellow applicant--must just be those hyper competitive prep academies some of you attend lol) so we emailed our write ups back to one another. ( so we could read them / laugh at them / send them ourselves)

He mailed the one I wrote FOR HIM, I mailed the one he wrote FOR ME. Will this come across as self serving? Should I written a note on the email about that fact? Should I send another email with said note etc?

No… I mailed out my own. Didn’t say anything. What they don’t know won’t hurt them and def. won’t hurt you. Besides, i doubt that it’s that big of a deal

It is fine as long as the pdf you sent in clearly has the right applicant’s name and other info in all the right places.

There is nothing wrong with that. They did not ask you for a “confidential” rec so I’m sure they understand that some people will see their peer evaluations. My daughter who is a very good writer was frustrated that her friend wrote a very nice but “simple” rec. Her friend (who is a male) doesn’t have the same writing style or passion for writing that she does.
