Another follower here! Congrats on a decision & please report back once in awhile to let us know how you are doing!
Congratulations! You’ll be fantastic at YSU honors :-). They’re lucky to have you and hopefully you’ll find a good roommate. Do you know what honors courses will be offered in the fall?
And you can still apply to UNM later (as a freshman transfer??) Or to Scripps or Bellisario or Mizzou or anywhere, or stay all 4 years. It’s up to you since your debt will be limited by attending YSu, which gives you more freedom to make choices down the line.
I must say I’m pretty disappointed with the conditions on the Amigo since @acollegehopeful3 wouldn’t have his full FA package by May First. Perhaps it’ll be easier if she/he applies earlier next year.
Congratulations! You are going to do well no matter where you go. I hope you have a wonderful time – you must be so relieved!!! And you should be proud, too.
Yup when you say
“I’m going to YSU Honors college on a full scholarship to double major in … and…”
many eyes will pop.
This has been the best thread that I’ve come across. @myos1634 and others have provided @acollegehopeful3 with some great choices at the last minute. Awesome job to all that asssisted.
I’ve been awaiting today’s update and am so happy that you have a positive resolution to your search. Congratulations to you, and please check in down the road to let us all know how you are doing.
Congrats @ACollegeHopeful3!! <:-P I’ve been inspired by your determination through this process, and cheering you from the sidelines. Go Penguins!
Congratulations! Your persistence and determination have been wonderful, and your ability to be flexible and roll with a change in situation will serve you very well in college and the workforce. I’m sure you will thrive in college and make the most of your many opportunities that being in the Honors Program will provide. Go Penguins!
Bravo!!! You have truly earned your spot in the Freshman class. Best of luck.
^^^^ what they all said. Not only congratulations, but best wishes on what I have confidence will be a great future. Keep us posted - we are all invested in you now
Wonderful news! Your determination is an inspiration.
thank you all for the kind words, this site has helped me so much and i would be in a much different place looking on to the next four years had i not gotten all this advice. just got an email asking for WL essay/response from CMU so fingers crossed, but everything is done and ready for YSU if it doesn’t come through!
Fingers crossed for CMU but since they don’t meet need don’t hope too much for a sufficient financial aid package.
The Nacac list is up. I’ll return once I’ve sifted through the 400+ colleges.
i know they don’t meet need but they offered me a tentative financial aid package that was very, very good - only a little more expensive than YSU a year. hopefully that offer would become a reality if i got in.
thank you!
That’d be awesome.
Congrats on your YSU commitment and your experience with the honors students. Enjoy your summer and a great college experience!
@MYOS1634 What do you think about Hofstra University for @ACollegeHopeful3 ? It’s on the NACAC list. I know they have strong film/media studies/journalism programs. I also think I have heard they can be generous with merit aid.
You’ll be OK.
hofstra looks like it’ll cost 30k out of pocket according to NPC unless i get merit, which always seems iffy at this point. not really seeing anyone more affordable than YSU.
Hofstra is not good with financial aid. Beloit, Luther, DePauw, Earlham would be stronger academically than YSU so they may be worth a try but I don’t know how they stack up for writing. Knox is very good for writing. Those five would be my picks for quick applications (also, I think they’re free to apply).
