I met a CA Community College spanish teacher last night...

I asked her about availability of classes. She told me that they "offered" 22 Spanish 1 courses....in the Fall, they will "offer" 10...

This basically answered my question about the ability to get the transferable classes one may need from a CC in 2 years...

She said the best way to get classes was to get early registration by being an athlete or in an honors program

I have been informed there is no possibility of my younger son obtaining early registration in the Los Rios Community College district since they do not have an honors program and he is not an athlete. As much as I think that with his SAT scores, particularly in Math, he should get his BS at a UC, I just do not see how, with the registration priority he has, he would be able to complete all of the large number of CCC classes required for a Physics major to transfer to a UC in a reasonable period of time. Not only were their no openings for the Summer and Fall semesters in the Calculus and Physics courses he needs, all sections of the required English and Chemistry courses he needs to take were closed weeks before his registration time.

At his orientation at Sacramento State he was able to register for Calculus, English and Chemistry for the Fall semester so I think that is where he will be headed in August.

Yep, it is a sad state of affairs…and you can count on a 12-percent tuition hike that was announced today for CSU campuses!
