I might scream if someone else asks...

I might scream if one more person asks, "[Musicallylatin], why don't you just go to [insert somewhat local state schools here]?"

I got it asked today when someone asked me where I was looking into college. I've been asked it multiple times in the past and it's just obnoxious. Do people really care that little in my state about out of state colleges that actually have a bit of decency to them?

Why don’t you just answer their valid question?

I do, but it’s just annoying after awhile. Every school in state has at least an acceptance rate of 85%.

Dang…what state do you live in? All the good U’s in my state are tougher than that.

BYU-Idaho FTW

Just say X school has a better music program, or be honest and say because you want to go to a significantly more prestigious school

“because X school is awesome”

i wouldnt mind going to the college of nj. i’m applying to two in-state schools.

Oh my… No thank you.

The goal here is out of state.

Say, “Because it’s academically inferior to the ones I’m considering.”

Bam! End of discussion. :P

I agree it sucks.

Another thing that sucks is when they confuse upenn with Penn state.

And when they ask why I don’t go to a local state university (in a state that has crap universities) for free rather than shell out money for Penn (which they believe is Penn state).

And then they ask what I got on my SAT…

It just seems like if I said harvard or Yale or Stanford, they’d be like OMG. But I say upenn and dartmouth and they’re like…why don’t you go to the local state college.

I guess it annoys me how they just don’t understand and appreciate the work I’ve put in. Pretty much if it’s not hypsm they don’t care. Unless it’s like some random university in utah which they all know about because their cousins daughters uncles boyfriend went there.

I realize I’m way overreacting and being an ahole but this is getting to me

Whenever people ask me what colleges I’m looking at, I always say the in-state school, and schools in bordering states. I like avoiding confrontations :)

lol @ Nebraska

@musicallylatin

I know EXACTLY what you mean! Almost nobody around my area goes out of state and when I tell people I want to go to college in a big city like Chicago, Boston, or New York as opposed to Indiana they kind of roll their eyes or give me that look.

“I’m still weighing my options for now”
