I was relatively sick this morning but I know I couldve survived the school day if I tried. My mom said I could stay home and so I did. But whenever this happens I always feel like bad or smething about doing this LOL.

Seeing that you CCers value schooling so much do you guys think the same way or am i just wierd like that? ha ha

BTW my absence was excused - I never miss school if it isnt and nor am I ever tardy. But lately, Ive missed a few days of school for one reason or another - field trips and seminars or stuff like taht. to make things worse, I had two tests today which I felt I was ready for too, but I just didnt feel like going and NO im not a slacker. LOL. maybe im just burned out from junior year and should just consider this a "personal" day. lol

Nope. I miss school when I'm sick. What's to feel guilty about? Teachers don't really care if you miss a day here and there. You can make up the work. You're not hurting anyone, unless you have a group project or something.

I miss a lot of school. Seven days this year already, but honestly it doesn't affect my grades at all. I take a lot of "personal days." I wouldn't worry about it, but I know what you mean about feeling guilty. I feel guilty unless I have something I absolutely need to do, like I skipped a few days to finish up college essays. Plus my school has a rep for horrible attendance, especially for seniors. I look like I have perfect attendance compared to a lot of kids in my class.

Now I take a lot of "personal days" off as well. Even if you're not sick, going to school ridiculously stressed or sleep deprived is just as bad as going to school sick so why bother?

Sometimes you just need to take a personal day- when your really burend out its better to take a day to sleep and recollect than go through another day of school like a zombie

Oh, my gosh... this thread was started by "hardworker." I hope you're a freshmen. Seriously, motivation is inversely proportional to years you've been in high school.

I don't feel guilty when I miss days of school for valid reasons, but I rarely do so when the reasons are borderline simply because making up homework after having missed a class and having less time to do everything is quite a bit harder than just going to school in the first place.

I feel guilty if I take off when I actually am missing stuff in school that I will have to make up so I feel you on that one. Senior year, i've started taking a lot more "me" days. Now that it's second semester, the next day I'm taking off is the end of the month on a road trip. Thank god for senior year :)

I take personal days a couple times a year. I don't usually feel guilty because I don't take them to avoid things (my parents wouldn't let me do that anyway). But sometimes I feel a little guilty anyway.

I usually just skip bells 1, 2, and 3 if I need a "personal day." I'm not supposed to be at school for 1st bell anyway (late arrival) and I enjoy my 4-7th bells and they are more important. I could pass second bell french in my sleep. We do nothing in 3rd bell AP Eng. However, I don't read the book for AP Human Geo, so I need to be in class to take notes, I fall miserably behind if I miss even a day of Calc BC, I can't go without slide notes in AP Art Hist, and Orchestra's just fun. It's not like I could just leave 7th bell anyway.

I've missed two full days, one when I was legitimately sick, the other when I was sorta sick and just needed a break. I don't know ow many times I've missed 2nd and 3rd bell. Probably a lot. I don't care what my English teacher thinks of me. The woman makes no sense, sometimes smells of alcohol, and I would never, ever let her write me a rec. I'm a very impressive French student in a class where almost no one tries, so that teacher likes me anyway. If they made their classes worthwhile, I'd show up, but they don't do so.

I haven't missed a day of school all year and I have been gone the last 4 days (all excused, I had a school related trip, and I was sick the days after that)

I kinda felt guilty, but I try not to worry much.

According to my report card, I've missed anywhere between 10 and 17 days of school this year so far..
Bwahaha. It makes me giggle. (I do think the higher end ones are because my teachers can't do attendence.) Yay for being a senior?

I've missed 4 days total. 3 for vaction and one for a ski meet. ALL of them seriously messed my grades up. Same last year. Last year I missed a day of school cause I was out of town and got a B+ instead of an A in two classes. I always come to school, always, even if I'm sick. If I miss a day, I don't have the time to compensate homework and such. I'm I miss, I have a unending amount of work....

No sense in going to school when you're feeling lousy. It's much better to give your a body a day to rest and recuperate. Plus, you're preventing your germs from being spread to other people!
