I missed every deadline to apply for this semester, how screwed am I?

Basically just as the title says. I procrastinated hard, and was out of the state for a good portion of my summer. I never completed my FAFSA, I don't have any grants, I have no job, and I didn't apply for classes. I'm wondering if there is even the remotest possible chance, even a snowball's chance in Hell, that I can still work through this and get to go to school. I'm in Zanesville, Ohio if that helps, and general classes started yesterday, I'm trying to go to ZaneState community college. Is there anything I can do to still go to school this semester? What are the channels I need to go through to seek further advice and maybe, possibly, work through this stuff?

It appears you don’t really want to go to college. Why not try to get a job and start working right now on applying for next semester?

I do, I promise you I do. Due to some unfortunate circumstances and disagreements, I ended up out of state over much of the Summer, not even sure if I was returning. Eventually I did, a bit too late it would seem, and am now trying to get my life in order. I think going to college is a huge step in the right direction for my life, and I just want to know if there’s anything, anything at all, I can do to get this situation under control and work through it. I’m willing to put in the work, I just need to know if there are any avenues I can pursue to fix this. Any help?

The best thing to do would be call the school and find out. I know at my school kids can still add and drop classes so it might not be too late for you. Also try contacting other schools and see if they have room. You could also take online courses and transfer them as long as you find reputable ones. Worst case scenario, definitely get a job and apply for the next semester. Good luck!

Thank you, I’ve also been informed by some users on another site that there may be options available to make up the lost credits during off-time like the Summer so I may be able to catch up on the lost semester! Hopefully I can figure this all out in time enough to decide if this town is worth staying in.

You’re welcome :)

It may or may not be too late to enroll. But if you can’t just pay cash for a semester of college, it may be too late to arrange financing.

Go in person to the admissions office today. They’ll let you know what’s possible. If it’s at all possible to take you for the fall, they’ll do it.

you should go to community college. you obviously aren’t ready for the responsibility of a university and the stuff it throws at you, but that’s okay! CC’s are there for people who need to transition into the routine. first things first is your fafsa. even for cc you need to get it done, and the truth is you had since january to do so there is no excuse because of a summer vacation. get that done, and enroll one or two classes or what you can afford. then get a part-time/full-time job. you can’t go from doing nothing to having everything, i think you should start slow and see if you find any interest in a hobby or classes and that will lead you to what you really want to do, and once you figure that out you will have the drive to makes decisions for yourself. good luck!
