I tried but failed to meet the Jan 1, 2010 (11:59 PM EST) deadline for all of the colleges I was interested in (Northwestern University, Boston College, New York University). WHAT DO I DO?! WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS!? WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME!?

Start looking for schools that have deadlines AFTER Jan 1. I believe these deadlines to be true:

Brown: Jan 4
Grinnell: Jan 2
Oberlin: Jan 15
Pomona: Jan 2
Rice: Jan 2
Wash U: Jan 15

But… I could be wrong about those deadlines - you’ll have to investigate further. Good luck.

(Did you really miss the deadline for ALL of the colleges you were interested in???)

^Swarthmore and Chicago are also Jan 2. Carleton and Tulane are Jan. 15.

If you have them done, try submitting now. Most colleges have a grace period.

i’m so sorry to hear this, but how did you let this happen!?!?!?!

willamette and tulane have later deadlines, though.

relax. submit. The colleges spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to attract applicants. They aren’t gonna dump your apps b/c you were a tiny bit late. They actually want your application and find a reason to admit you.

UMMMM I guess you didn’t even write a CommonApp essay? BC’s supplement has no essay. It just asks you questions and you hit submit. You couldve just filled out CommonApp essay in 20 minutes. You could’ve already applied to BC.

Brown’s due date is on 01/01/10.

^They extended it to the 4th.

If you finish soon, submit. Many colleges still gave a chance to those who submit slightly late.

Granted, this isn’t a good mindset to have as the deadlines approach, but many colleges do approach it this way. Go ahead and submit.

And if by any chance their site is closed and you can’t submit electronically–Brown’s closed at midnight in 2008, for example–send them an email with the application as an attachment if possible saying that you are posting the application by snailmail in case they cannot download the attachment. Then put it in the mail. Or fax it to them if you can (most will have their faxes turned off though).
