i missing something

usually i get problems like this but im missing something here

If x is an integer and 2<x<7, how many different triangles are there with sides of lengths 2,7, and x?

A. 1
B. 2
C. 3
D. 4
E. 5

bump!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is A. Think about it: The sum of any 2 sides in a triangle is > the other side. So the conditions for this integer is: 2<x<7, x<9+2,="" x+2="">7. Out of all the integers from 3 to 6, only 6 plus 2 is greater than 7</x<7,>

o i see. i was forgettin the 'x+2>7' :(

I thought it was B:

2, (3), 7

2, (4), 7

Each seems to satisfy the conditions (the number in parenthesis is the value of x). Maybe I'm missing something.

P.S.- Where did you get this problem?

the answer is A, and i got it from the 10 Real SAT's White book

Can you explain it again? I don't understand what il bandito is talking about.

I got B because I thought the rule was like this:
7+2> x
9 > x
The sum of 2 sides of a triangle is > than the other one

7-2<x
5<x
When you subtact a big side from a little side, the difference is < than the other side

6 is the only one that fits all of the req.

Oh, nm. I meant I got A, too. ^_^;

lol, we all get confused sometimes :)

Oooops lol...

Oh, wait. Now I see where I got B. Number 7 AND 6 can both fit the credentials. Right?

less than 7. not less than or equal to 7

all SAT questions are easy, its just the wording or how the problem is presented that makes it hard.

uh idk what it was rated, but it was near the end so medium/hard

My guess is that its medium, then. sigh I thought I actually got a hard question right for once.

what else is there to say? lol
