I also got my bronze congressional award and will be getting my silver before i apply, do they even care about these?

I'm also applying for the summer film program at Tisch for this summer.
So do you think I have a good shot? Thank you!

I'm also from Idaho so should this help?

depends on the department and how your portfolio/performance is.

if your doing the film and television department, i hear it has a 5% acceptance rate, so if thats the case im going to say your chances arent very good

I hope you do better than a 95% on your SAT because 96% is equal to a 1400 on the current SAT.

anybody know about that film and television department, i heard in here that the average sat score was 1550, is that true??

litltebeach, you look like an excellent candidate academically so that portion of the admission process is in very good shape. As you know, though, it only counts for 50% of admission to Tisch. As long as your portfolio is also excellent, I think you have a good shot.

matt, I would doubt the average SAT for F/TV is 1550. The year my D was accepted to drama in Tisch, we were told that traditionally the drama kids have the highest academic stats in Tisch and the F/TV kids the lowest. This may be why the only Tisch kids you'll find in GSP are F/TV kids. I've never heard that 5% acceptance figure anywhere except in this forum. :)

I went to Tisch this summer and was told directly by the admission head (for film) that the acceptance right is around 6%. He also said that the average SAT for film was 50 points above all other majors at Tisch. (something like a 1420...I don't remember exactly) All our TA's (current film majors) had SAT in the 1400-1550 range...And alwaysmom, the reason GSP kids are only found is film is because film/television is the only program to offer GSP option kids (this info is straight from the head of admissions at tisch).

However, I know several people accepted with SAT in the 1200 range and plenty of people with 1500+'s rejected...Your portfolio can really help. Good luck!!

actually the 95% on the PSAT is really high and I might be up for the national merit, when it shows what it translates into for the real SAT it's in the high 1400's to the 1500's.

i checked to see what my SAT score would be and it's about a 1426. Would this be good enough for the film department? Thanks

Ummm...last time I check national merit is only for 99% and up...good luck though...and those scores are excellent for nyu film but make sure your portfolio is very strong

Gosh, everyone is always so negative and so condescending! We were just accepted you guys, we're not so much better than everyone else! litltebeach3, I was just accepted into Tisch's drama program- Your stats are amazing, don't let these guys tell you otherwise! Work very hard on your portfolio and do great in your interview, that's important and can be the deciding factor! No matter what, you never know until you try! I thought for sure I wasn't going to get in, but if I hadn't have tried, look where I'd be! So go for it!

PS- Bagpipes, eh? That's cool!

Yo Matt, I heard that this year's average SSW ED acceptee was 1600. is that true?
btw, how's everyone? lol

hey, i just got into Tisch ED with a 1290 highest so it could happen for you! but i had to audition so it was probably 50% based on that, and i also had a 4.0 for all four years, I just SUCK on standardized tests!

does anyone know how hard it is to get into the dramatic writing program @ tisch?
