It's getting way to late in the process to still be deciding on a list, but I'm having a very hard time. I go to a private highschool in Chicago where I have been studying classical/jazz voice. My ideal plan for college would be to major in classical voice and literature, and still be able to be involved in jazz singing. I am not financially able to apply to a bunch of schools, or make a bunch of long distance trips.

Currently this is my list...
New England Conservatory
Lawrence University
Bennington College
Depaul University
Roosevelt University

I'm from the chicagoland area, and would really like to stay around here, however, none of the local schools seem to be a good fit for me. I am absolutley in love with Bennington's mission to let students create their own plan for their studies, but the distance makes me nervous.

Does anyone know of midwest schools, preferably very close to chicago, that seem very special and intellectual (like Bennington?) I have ruled out Oberlin, but I would very much like to find a school similar to these that is closer to me.
