I Need a Digital Camera

Yes, I do.

I have up to $300 to spend on it, and here are the musts:

rechargeable battery (NO MORE AAAs!!!)

USB compatible (plug in on any computer & get pics)

not too hard for taking self-pictures

turn on quickly and fast response time (click-and-take, not click-and-hold-and-take)

which one should i buy?

The Canon SD series matches your criteria...I got a great deal on an SD400 5.0 MP (there's also the 450, 500, and 600) off ebay in June--$250 for the camera, two rechargable batteries, charger, 1 GB memory card, mini tripod, cables, lens cleaning kit, and even a memory stick-->USB converter. The newer models will be a little more expensive.

If you turn off autofocusing, then the response time is quick...but if you turn on autofocusing, then you will have to hold down the shutter (for like a quarter of a second). Since it's small, self pictures aren't too hard.

My camera is smaller than my wallet, which is also a big plus.

tnx

but amazon scares me. all cameras have at least ten or twenty reviews that say that the camera's a piece of crap and that canon does nothing about it.

Please be sure to set aside a certain amount of your budget for a memory card. The one that comes with your camera will likely be inadequate.
