I need a Graphing Calc

So far I've used the TI-30 and it's been great but this year I'm taking AP Stats and I need to have a graphing calc. What calc would be the best for this? I'm also taking Trig this year. I heard the TI-89 is great but some tests/people don't let you use it. I also heard about some new calculator coming out and I was wondering if I should wait for that.

Thanks

I like my TI-84 Plus. I have the Silver Edition, but that doesn't make any difference. I don't see the point in buying anything higher than that until you feel you've gotten to such a high level of math and science that you need all the computer power you can get. I'm pretty sure you can't take the ACT with a TI-89, and it's VERY helpful to have a graphing calculator on the ACT.

If the new calculator is more powerful than the TI-89, teachers/professors probably won't let you use it. Get a TI-89 for the class. And then if you're planning on taking the ACT, borrow someone's TI-86.

steal one... jk TI-89 is simply awesome

YOu might find the stat functions easier to use on the 84 series, but if you think you will end up in calculus, then get the 89.

Yeah, I'll be taking AP Calc next year. I had signups for classes today and I had to either choose between Trig/Band or go straight to AP Calc/some crap elective. I decided to stick with Trig/Band because Band is my major EC.

I did fine in AP Calc AB with a TI-84 Plus Silver. Then again, I got a 4 on the exam...

I used a TI-84 plus (not silver) and it worked great for me on stats (5 on AP). You may find the TI-89 a bit harder to use but it's definitely easier for calculus.

TI-84 has a USB port so you can program on your computer - much more convenient than trying to use calculator menus.

TI-84 is the best for stats

Uh, why do you need a TI-89 for calc? Especially single vaiable calc. I was perfectly fine with a TI-84 for calc, and most of my friends used a TI-83 (everyone got a 5). Even for multivariable calc and linear algebra, which I will take next year a TI 84 is fine. What does the TI89 have that makes it so great?

bump 10 char

It does your homework. :)
If you have the extra cash for an 89, get it. It was so worth it.

** def. i agree.. it does do my homework for me..:) to such a point, my 2nd year algebra and trig teacher banned me from using it on tests **

TI-83 plus, cheap and used by like everyone in my school

i personally use a TI-89 Titanium because i'll be taking calculus for 2 years in highschool, and the added functions are amazing.. slope fields..etc

get the new one dude the TI-NSPire.

ti are for kids, go HP.

any other opinions. should i wait for nspire?

Eh, you could but the extra money needed to buy that instead of a TI-89 or TI-83+ could be used for more important things.

calculators are worth the extra money, i mean who knows you might have it for the next 8 or so years of your life, if not just the 4 years of HS and what not. i say spurge.. or get your parents to do it

which one can i buy to use for colllege?
