I need a job.

I need a job for this summer (my other plans have fallen through).
Any suggestions for something that would be good until mid september as so many of the summer jobs have already filled up by now.

I wouldnt mind working a lot of hours but I want to find something where I can learn and be interested. Actually, I kind of want to be a forklift driver but I dont know how to go about looking for that job.

If you are 18 or over, you might check into temp agencies. My older son did that for two summers, and they kept him busy all summer. He had a variety of jobs--warehouse, video return business, cleaning up at a food processing plant. Driving forklift might even be a possibility, although my son did not have any of those.

If you go this route, be sure to apply at more than one agency. My son applied to two and only got one call from the first, but calls aplenty from the second.

thats sounds like something I should look into although transportation could be an issue.

how else could you get a job if your 18? is it possible to get a job related to your major like engineering if you havent been to college yet?

The chances of you getting even a internship are neer to none after graduatmg from college for any type of engineering especcially computer.

Get a job in computers if that is your major.

is it just me or is SSJ2 very question-oriented, mostly reiterating already made statements.

well anyways, i really suggest tutoring, thats what i'm going for..
even kids that go to UCI will be sought out to be tutors. its the biggest industry in the US, seriously, princeton review is going to take over windows as the biggest monopoly :D (barrons = Mac)

Well, I'm looking for a summer job (in MN) and there isnt all that much tutoring going around.

I had a wonderful job at a bakery but the bakery went out of business and now I have nothing (except an intense craving for really good bread)

fill out applications at mcdonalds, burger king, and dunkin donuts. that what i did

stop hijacking my thread, I don't want you here!

"how else could you get a job if your 18?"
"fill out applications at mcdonalds, burger king, and dunkin donuts. that what i did"

Given your interest in computers, Best Buy has a "Geek Squad" . They're a group of techies that set up computers, home networks and home theatres for customers. Here in Michigan, they drive around in white VW's...

You might want to check out some of the "mom and pop" computer stores to see if they need a tech support person.

Or take out an ad in the local freebie neighborhood papers and advertise your expertise in custom PC building: Student computers built by a student. It worked for Michael Dell...

Actually, Geek Squad was founded here just a few miles from where I live (before they turned into best buy's repair crew). They are still a VERY VERY respected company in their own right and they are quite filled up with unpaid internships of college students and grads (I've looked into this one :) ).

Thanks for the help but this isnt really the kind of thing that can be asked about on a forum like this.
