I'm currently a rising senior and am being somewhat recruited by a few schools for my sport, its an individual sport and hasn't been mentioned yet on this forum (at least I think so). A few coaches called me the day that they were allowed to, and I have gotten a few emails to which I have responded and a few have asked me to send in my transcript for a pre read (Wesleyan and JHU). The schools that called me are Wesleyan Harvard and Duke.

Unfortunately for me I haven't been able to compete in top level competition due to some injuries and other unfortunate circumstances but I plan to senior year. Am i behind in recruiting? I have emailed many coaches and have only heard back from this few.

I also just wanted to know if it's possible to get accepted to these schools despite my somewhat lackluster grades (especially Harvard and other Ivies because I truly do not want to waste my time thinking I can get accepted when in truth I cannot)

edit: I went on an unofficial to Harvard and talked with the coach for about an hour then he showed me around campus for another two, I don't know how my interview went I was a bit nervous. The coach didn't mention anything about future acceptance, just that my sat's were fine and he would keep in contact over the summer.

GPA U/W: 3.3/3.4
SAT 1: 2230 M 740 CR 730 W 760
SAT 2: 740 Math II yet to take others will in the fall
No class rank but I go to a top private school in New York

I've done well for my sport, and I can compare to the kids already on these teams, its just that I lack exposure in my sport...

thanks a lot for any help I'll and anything else if I forgot something

I understand the AI system and I'm guessing I fall around 205-210, but is this enough to get into a top school as those that have contacted me?

OK there are some great people here who can offer some help.
Not knowing your sport, all I can say for sure it is this…

Follow up on every lead if its a school you might want to consider.

Get a copy of your transcript now and send it along with your scores and sports stats to every coach. Do the same for any schools you want to consider. You need to be developing a relationship/rapport with the coaches–and if you fit the team and school–you may get invited to an official visit etc.

Your SATs are fine. and the Math2 is fine.

If there is significant rigor in your academics and weighted your GPA is higher, you may be fine. The coaches at each school can give you an idea of where you fit for the team, and also can tell you if they will submit your stuff for a pre-read. Pre reads have already begun–depending on sport and school—

So hop to it on the transcript etc.

Good luck. Be sure to use the search tool on this forum and see if anyone has posted about your sport. I would then send them a message and see if they can give you more info.
Also–FWIW – I know an athlete who was recuited D1 this year --in a sport new to her. She crossed over from another sport–and had no significant experience in this sport, nor national titles etc. However–she was recruited and had great options.

my school doesn’t weight anything as far as they tell us, that GPA is estimated because they give out letter grades only.
I sent my transcript to JHU and Wesleyan because they asked for it. I will send it to the other schools as well just to keep them updated I guess.

delendum, would you be involved in a helmet sport??? from the schools listed maybe lacrosse or football… If so the answer is definatley yes… AI only apply to the Ivys . I dont know any coach who would spend 3 hours with a recruit if he wasnt interested. If they have done a pre read and are still interested then you know you have met their standards. going to a top private school will help, especially with schools that use a “wholistic” approach for admissions. If coaches called the first day they could you are definately on someones radar. Keep in mind that the IVYs and nescacs only give need based aid if that is a consideration. Not sure about the others but think JHU is the same. PM me if you like as my son attends one of the schools recruiting you but may be a different sport.
