I Need A Safety To Apply To

I'm trying to find a common app safety to apply to... any suggestions?!

Throw some out there... maybe a LACs... something ill get into to!

well, no thanks to you guys... i had to choose without input, so I choose william and mary, because even though it isnt much of a safety... it was common app, and easy supp. Final list, as if you care, its ridiculous...: Stanford EA, Harvard, Yale, Duke, Georgetown, Northwestern, WUSTL, Vanderbilt, U of I, U of wisc. madison, U of Mich, Notre Dame, Davidson, Claremont Mckenna, and College of William and Mary...

15 schools... of which I will probably get into 4... this is ridiculous, but im halfway done with each app... so I'm sticking to it

What state do you live in? Stats?

CMC, Davidson, CWM, UI, Vanderbilt and UWisc (if in-state) should also be easy ins if your scores are good and essays are serious.

hmmm... well im IL... I got into U of I and Wisconsin Madison already... my common app essays are good... I was actually thinkin about half butting the others (WM, CMC, Davidson...). I'm at a 34 ACT (w/o writing, 33 with), 2200 SAT, 1/610 rank, 4.0 UW (for now at least... maybe drop a few after semester)... hows that look?

frankly... im just too apped out to even want to put effort in anymore... kinda sad

Berkeley =)

I visited Berkley... didnt 'feel right' there... you know that feeling you get on a good campus for you... I didn't feel it there...

how bout BU OR UT AUSTIN.

BTW i dont think you need a safety now. i mean, you have already been admitted to illinois and madison, so unless you really hate them( which i am sure you dont :) ) drop the other schools and stop searching for a safety
just my advice.:)

Its just I dont know if I want to go to a big state U.

I understand that both are fine fine schools... I just don't think I would happy there

I plan on not putting much effort into the ND, CMC, Davidson, and W/M apps.... not enough time.... if they work, they may be more viable than the state Us

But then I'd also have to realize, why pay 40k to go somehwere like CMC when I could pay 13 and go to U of I...

How about UCLA?

OOS... and isnt it too late to apply to UCs... I mean deadline is the 1st... and I couldnt have my cousenlors and teachers send out that stuff in time

Yes, you are too late for UCs (11/30 due date). My question to you is why are you applying to 15 schools??? You've been admitted to two safeties, so just choose two matches that you absolutely love and I'm sure will get in with your stats, and choose between Harvard, Yale and Duke. You'll probably get into Stanford anyway!

well... I shoulda... but I am about 9/10ths of the way done with each app... just a matter of proofing the final copies...

I was an idiot... didnt handle this well at all

Oh well, too late now.... hopefully I can tell others not to follow in my footsteps...

CMC is no safety school, you guys. If you like Stanford, check out Pomona, or, for a little less ego than either of those two schools, Occidental. Maybe Chapman would work as well. Or Pitzer. USC?

Pomona's more selective than CMC

Pomona and CMC are both hard to get into - 18% and 22% respectively.
And they only take a third of their new class from California.
Pitzer or USC would be good matches for a Stanford hopeful with too many reach schools.

It is indeed, good point. I guess i suggested it because it is of a similar vein, but it is no easy admissions, you're correct.

Those percentages alone don't illustrate how hard it is to get into CMC or Pomona, but it does show part of the story. As to the regional bias, I'm not sure- I though about half of the class were from california, but perhaps it is a third. USC is supposedly quite easy to get into from outside of California (so some have said) compared to being from Ca, particularly so cal.

I'm sure Pomona's a third. Not so sure about Claremont. Maybe a bit more.

I'm checking out Occidental too..........better location than Pomona, with merit scholarships.
