I took chem 110 this semester and got just short of a C (67) as my final grade. Im going into materials engineering, and the requirements do not state if I need a C or better but am wondering if I should retake the class anyway because I have to take chem 112 eventually. The people I have talked to said that chem 112 is easier to manage and not a weed out class so I`ll be fine. The only two reasons I want to retake the class is to boost my GPA and be able to take chem 112 (if a C or better is required). I dont know if a prerequisite for chem 112 is a C or better in Chem 110. I know some schools also count the class that you retake towards gpa (even though both times show up on your transcript) but I dont know if PSU does this. I looked at the handbook and it seems like they dont. I emailed an adviser and I didn’t get word back from them yet. Im stressing out right now and dont really know what to do.
Courses that you retake and do better in count towards requirements of any kind, BUT the grade is not part of your gpa. Nothing you do will “erase” the original grade, or it being counted toward your gpa instead of the retaken course. Both courses will be on your transcript.
Most all majors require a C or better in all required courses.
@greenbutton so should I retake the class?
