I don't know what to do. I'm such a bright student. Notice the straight A's and B's in Freshman year and drastically change to B's, C's, D's, and F's? I was going through depression, suicide, loss of family members and friends throughout the two years. I know it's not an excuse but I've changed for the better and I don't know how to prove it to these Universities.

I don't want to go to community college. GAP year is probably plausible but I'd really want to go to one of these colleges instead of doing a Gap Year and/ or Community College. Is there anything I can say/ do that will help me get into the college?

I heard you can get in but only if you maintain an A or B average or something similar. And what is conditional acceptance? Does it pertain to students like me?

Will colleges accept me next year if I get Straight A's and one or two B's if they see my senior year grades explode with a 3.5 GPA Average? I need guidance and my counselors and parents aren't great for advisory.

Your GPA is going to hurt you alot, especially with that downward trend. Stanford will be a high reach. I’m not sure about the others though.

Penn state will be a reach to some degree under these circumstances…good luck with upping your GPA.

RPI is even more a reach, they require 2100s and roughly 3.5ish

Stanford’s as high a reach as it gets. Sorry bud, but your scores wont let you get into Stanford as far as things go for now.

You might be able to get into University of Arizona, I’m not too sure how competitive that school is, but right now all the others are reaches. Your grades and downward trend will really hurt you. I’m not sure if you’ve taken the ACT or SAT, but definitely try to score well on those.

If you can write about how your depression and suicide caused the downward trend, then you may be able to have better chances at U of A or UT. Maybe even have your guidance counselor write about how you are such a bright student but due to serious personal issues you went from an A student to C student then it may help.

There is nothing wrong with going to a community college for a year and transferring. It saves money and if you can get straight As in college level classes, you will have much better chances. It will only be a year or two, and it really won’t be that bad.

So right now I’d say apply to U of A, maybe UT (if you can really write and have your counselor say something about your depression) and then definitely consider other options such as community college for a year.

Is this a trolling thread?

None of the universities you want to apply to are within reach.
You MIGHT get into a Penn State or Pitt Branch Campus as part of the 2+2 program, but even that is a not a sure thing at that point (they ask for 2.8- 3.4 so you’d be about at the lowest percentile they accept).
What state do you live in?
Because in addition to getting in, you’ll have the challenge of finding money to pay for school. Don"t bother applying to any public out of state school. Apply to in state schools and to boost your odds elsewhere, schools that are 500+ from your home state.
If you don’t want to go to community college (your obvious solution), you may have a shot at South Dakota school of Mines. Good school, solid job prospects, as long as you can stand the cold.
