I need advice please

Hello CC members,

I am a community college student transferring out in the fall of '09 and am preparing rather late. My numbers are very low and I am being pushed towards state schools here in Iowa by everyone that I talk to. I wanted to come here and see if the general consensus was shared by the rest of you. Here is a bit about me.

Age:23
Race: Caucasian
GPA: 3.52
LOR's: 4, including the provost
Honors: Dean's list twice, President's list twice, member of Phi Theta Kappa
EC's: Tutoring and volunteering with Senator Obama
ACT: 28 -- English 34, Science 33, Reading 33, Math 13

My high school GPA was abysmal and I'm fearing that my math score on the ACT may disqualify me from anywhere that I'd really like to go. The Phi Theta Kappa staff have been very helpful in working with me to transfer into University of Iowa or Drake university, but like everyone else they seem convinced that I should not shoot much higher. I'd really like to consider transferring into one of these schools if possible--

Brandeis; University of Virginia; Georgetown; George Washington; Cornell; U MICH; or UC Berkeley
