Hey guys,
Recently I've been faced with a tough decision. Before I get to that though let me give you the back story first.

I am currently a senior in an online school. I transferred from a traditional brick-and-mortar school my junior year and have been here since. I'm not going to get into detail about why I transferred, but let's just say I wasn't "feeling school" at the time. So I join online school and the course work is so much easier and so like an idiot I decide to procrastinate on my classes. This is my junior year btw. So I slack off and I fail 2 classes my first semester and fail 2 more classes the next semester. So as you can see I still wasn't committed to my school work. I just finished my third semester here, as a senior. I took 8 classes, but only 7 count towards my GPA. So, I found out I failed 3 classes and got 4 D's. That's awful I know. This is the academic part of the story.

The other part. I am currently unhappy at how my life has turned out. I barely go out, and I have like no friends. I had a ton of friends in my old school but once I moved to the online school I was pretty much cut off in terms of socializing with my friends. So after about a year I completely lost contact with them. I felt like a piece of crap. So after a while of searching myself (I know that sounds dumb), but yeah I thought about how my life was now, and what I wanted it to be, it hit me. I should consider going to a university. Previously my plans were to just get through high school, regardless of my grades, and go to a community college. But now I want to go to a 4 year, in a different city away from my old life, to reinvent myself. But the problem with that is I don't have the required classes or GPA to get into a 4 year.

This is where I need advice. I recently spoke to my counselor about where I stand in terms of graduating. Basically I'm not going to graduate on time and I have two options. If I pass all my classes this semester then I'll only have to take 2 more classes in the summer to graduate. It might seem like that's the right choice, and it is in terms of my education. The problem with this option is that I'll have to go to a community college first in order to transfer to a 4 year later on. I really don't want to spend 2 more years as unhappy as I am.

Which brings me to my second option. I can pass all my classes this semester, and then take another year of high school. Why would I take another year of high school if I only need two classes to graduate? Well, it's to raise my GPA. The plan would be this, I would need to take an extra class in Math and an extra class in English to graduate. What my plan is, is to take the Math class in one semester and retake 5 more classes on top of that and then the next semester take the English class with 5 more retake classes. Here's a diagram to make this easier understand:

1st extra semester:
1. Necessary Math class
2. Retake class that I got a D or worse in.
3. Retake class that I got a D or worse in.
4. Retake class that I got a D or worse in.
5. Retake class that I got a D or worse in.
6. Retake class that I got a D or worse in.

2nd extra semester:
1. Necessary English class
2. Retake class that I got a D or worse in.
3. Retake class that I got a D or worse in.
4. Retake class that I got a D or worse in.
5. Retake class that I got a D or worse in.
6. Retake class that I got a D or worse in.

Another reason why I like this path better is because I also planned on working for about six months after graduating from high school and then going to college. So if I take this route It'll take me 6 more months to go to college than my original plan. This isn't really that big of a difference in my opinion if it means I'm gonna be happy

What do you guys think? Should I graduate in the summer and go to community?
or
Should I take an extra year in high school to raise my gpa?
Thanks for the help!
