I need an advice on choosing my major!

I was admitted to Columbia College and I am just starting to worry about choosing my major.

First of all, I am thinking about biological sciences but I am not sure whether I actually enjoy the subject. I do love the labs but I detest the memorizations. My parents think there is a huge vision in biology and so do I, but I am just no sure. I was also admitted as a Rabi Scholar so I think majoring science would be a huge plus for me.

I am just wondering how required courses that I have to take in freshmen and sophomore year before claiming my major. (on average)
So like if I take some biology prerequisite courses in freshmen year then in sophomore year I suddenly want to major in economics, is it still possible to fulfill the required courses for econ major even if i start studying it in sophomore year?

Please help me!

I’m not a student at Columbia (a high school junior to be exact), but from what I know of Columbia is that you do not chose your major until the end of second year to the beginning of third year. Also, switching majors are not as complicated as people assume; however, if you are planning on switching between Columbia College and FU, then that is a different story. As for your courses during first and second year: I believe that there is a certain amount of required courses that all first two year students must take, regardless of what major they plan on.

Hope this helped!
