So I turn on the computer, and this message pops up saying something to the order of "a config file listed in some Windows folder is damaged, etc."

So I try to do a Windows system restore, which does nothing,
So I do a total restore thing on my computer, which pretty much destroys everything I had saved on my computer

So now, all the applications on my computer are inaccessible, and I can't access the Owner's documents on my computer (it says access denied, but I'm a computer administrator on this computer)

And then I get a stupid message from the "Microsoft Registry" saying my windows registry is damaged--it tells me to go to www.RegistryCleanerExpress.com (a hoax?)

Anyway--what the crap is wrong with my PC?
Is everything down the drain, and I just lost all of my files to some virus?
Or can I still retrieve the "active desktop" (the PC says something's wrong with it) from the Owner's documents (if I can open it)?
