I need full-ride finacial aid or scholarship>>please help me find some schools!!

I am an Chinese girl, and average SAT (about 2000),long list of acativities, and some honors, top 5% at school.............and the most important, I need full-ride finacial aid or scholarship>>please help me find some schools!!
Thank you!!!!!!

What’s the exact breakdown of your SAT scores? Your scores are almost too low for merit-based full rides, but you could always try for need-based aid. The easiest way of finding colleges with need-based aid is to work through the top 30 or top 50 schools in the National Universities and Liberal Arts Colleges categories of the US News college ranking. That should give you an (almost) complete list of your options.

I have been wondering if colleges will be cutting down on aid to international students in favor of American students in this current economic crisis we are in ?

Possibly, but I have not heard of any college announcing such a move yet.

Most colleges’ immediate reaction to the weak economy was to save money (no new construction work, hiring freezes etc). Cutting back on financial aid would have the opposite effect: it would increase revenue because the college would (hopefully) enroll more full-paying customers instead of the poor international students. My college has done that in a different way: they decided to accept more students, as many students as our dorms can hold. Their reasoning was that those extra students would bring us about $25K per head if they have “average” financial need, without raising the college’s expenses.

with ur SAT’s i wud look mostly at colleges ranked like 40 and up on collegeboard…if full ride is ur only interest i mean

Consider the bottom 50 National LAC’s. These are fine schools and some happily provide money to students with solid but “not Ivy League” stats. Heck, some top 50 LAC’s will do this if they like your record.

You can look at USNWR tier 3 and 4 colleges. Watch out, some of these abuse student loans to make money.

2000 total SAT may be high enough for some state schools to waive OOS tuition. I do not have any definite data on this. Perhaps some other posters can clarify this.

This discussion board skews stats. 2000 SAT is a good solid score. A lot of schools may be interested in you.

BigG, do you know any tier 3 or 4 colleges that might award a full ride (i.e. tuition, room and board) to the OP? My concerns are that the OP’s SAT scores might be high enough for a full-tuition scholarship but too low for a full ride. At least I don’t know a single college that would offer him/her a full ride. On the same line of thought, an OOS tuition waiver might help if the OP could pay $20,000 a year, but it is still far away from a full ride.

I have already written on some other threads that the university of kansas offers full tution scholarships to international students. If you have an SAT score of over 2000 then you will probably get the scholarship. For more info on it PM me…

Your safe bet if you apply early is:

The University of New Orleans

Where you can get a FULL RIDE with a 1210 SAT (CR and math) and a 3.5 gpa.

I know some people here in the board don’t really like it, but it is a safe option.

well, thank you guys! all of you!! and…my sat was 600+800+600~~well…still grateful for your advice!

Are you an American of Chinese ancestry or are you a Chinese/Taiwanese national?

Do you speak and write good Mandarin or Cantonese?

What was the 800? Math?

@danhernan…
the scholarships ur talkin about are for out of state residents… meaning… those who are not in Louisiana, but are still in US. If you are an international you are eligible only for certain exemptions. So, if you reside in US you can consider UNO.

Thank you BigG, I am a native Chinese,and Mandarin is the language we use in school, and a native tone (which is an distinctive language) is what we use in daily communication…and yes, 800 math~~~and poor CR…
thank you very much for help!

the fact tat u have a good math score shows tat ur problem is only with the language. there are loads of schools that have ESL programs- English as a Second language. You can see such colleges. Those in the range of 75-110 in the U.S news Liberal arts colleges rankings

@ Neethu

Nah, I know it states out of state students but it also includes international students, as in international students living in their home country. Trust me on this, I received the Chancellor scholarship even though I am international not living in the US. So yeah, you should consider the University of New Orleans. After all you probably have the full ride with your stats.

@danherham
what??? really?? drats… guess i should have asked someone properly… thank you for the illumination :)

@danherham
it clearly states that the chancellor scholarship waives only in-state tuition!!!

so, who’s right??neethu or danherham??

danherham :slight_smile: i spoke with admissions official few minutes back. he told me that even internationals living outside of US are eligible for all the out-of-state scholarships :)

thank you verybody!!!
