I originally thought this meant you had to write a research question, so I hadn't done anything on it since I couldn't come up with a research question. But now I don't really think it's saying to come up with a wuestion, but I don't understand what it's asking either.. So..what this mean?

As a student, you’ve had to answer many questions. As a Freshman Research Scholar, you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions that advance your field of study (major) through the discovery of new knowledge. What questions do you have, and why do you feel it’s important to find answers?*

What does it mean by "What questions do you have"? Like research questions? or what?
I put my major as microbiology by the way.

THANK YOU SOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!

I think this might be in the wrong forum. This is the financial aid forum, and your question doesn’t seem related to financial aid.

What question would you ask (and like to find the answer to) to further the field of microbiology? Why is it important to ask this question.

Yea, I think it is a research question. What would you like to discover the answer to? I have little experience in microbiology, so I can’t help you with topics but you probably know something that is unexplained that maybe you would like to be ble to explain.

@Momom77 Oh ok… So since it says questionS, should I come up with more than one? I came up with one but I don’t know how good it is. Can I PM it to you? I’m a little paranoid about posting stuff online (with plagiarism catching stuff).

@thumper1 This is the “Financial Aid & Scholarships” forum. I’m asking a question about a scholarship.

Amrita, your original post doesn’t mention a scholarship at all. It talks only about some research question. What is your question about the scholarship?

My bet is the application for this scholarship has been available for a while. Is this for a departmental, scholarship at your college?

It sounds like they want to know what YOU hope to learn if you receive this award. It’s too bad it’s the weekend. A high school teacher in whatever field might have been able to discuss this with you.

@thumper1 I’m really sorry! I was kind of in a freak out mode while posting
Well, I don’t know if it can be really considered a departmental scholarship
. But students from all departments are eligible to for it. It’s a $1000 scholarship given to 60 students. I believe it’s mainly just way to encourage students to do research (as it is a research university- Oklahoma State University) and also because the requirements to recieve the full money is to do research during freshman year.
Hmm… Ok, I’ll try to come up with some questions I have relating to my major. Although, I think I might just let it be.
