I need help choosing between UNT and TTU

Until a couple of days ago, I was strongly considering on attending Texas Tech University to pursue an undergraduates degree in electrical engineering and probably music. At Texas Tech I am being offered about $13,000 in grants and about $3,000 in loans. However, I have recently received a letter from the University of North Texas stating that I have been invited to join the Emerald Eagle Scholars program( this program provides guaranteed tuition and fees for up to four years as long as I keep my GPA at a 2.5 or above and i have at least 30 hours of course work every year.) When compared to UNT, i would have to pay about $9,000 more every year i attend Texas Tech. I should mention that the obvious reason of why I am receiving such an amount of money is because my parents do not make a lot of money.
I really wanted to attend Texas Tech because (statistically speaking) their overall graduation rate, Average GPA per student, engineering program is better than North Texas', but these are just things that I have read from various websites. However my parents are really pushing for me to go to UNT.
If any could give their opinion on this subject ,as to which school you think is better; advice for me; anything else, it would be greatly appreciated.

Tech is considered the better school but not by much really. Most people won’t think a lot more of you going to Tech vs. UNT besides the fact that Tech is less of a commuter school.

Vinillalightning, first congrats on two great choices in Tech and UNT! Oh my gosh, go to UNT for sure with their welcome mat to you of Emerald Eagle Scholars. You will be thanking your lucky stars when you don’t have to come up with the extra $9,000 every year by going to Tech. Besides, if for some reason UNT does not work out to your expectations, you can always transfer to Tech or another school as a sophomore or junior. I am a huge Tech booster on College Confidential but in your case I urge you to follow the money and go to UNT.

One of the girls in my sorority transferred from UNT. She said that the engineering program was fairly underdeveloped, and seemed to imply that it was just sort of tacked on. $3,000 in loans each year is not unmanageable, particularly when the schools being compared are UNT and TTU.
