Hey!
I am not in top 10%.
My cumulative weighted average is around 93.92
The minimum average for top 10% is around 97.57
I’m really discouraged and bummed out. I had no idea what 10% til after I’ve made all my mistakes. I need some advice to see what my chances are to being admitted in UT Austin or climbing to top 10%.
I am an incoming sophomore taking advanced classes.
Thanks!
You still have two more years of high school?
- Make sure you understand how your school’s ranking system works. A lot of people don’t.
- Understand how your course selection affects that. You should NOT sacrifice your education for rank or to get into one school out of thousands. But make informed decisions.
- Once you are in a class, learn the material and do what you can to achieve the best grade you can. If the teacher offers extra credit, do it.
- There is a lot more to college admissions than rank but in the two large Texas schools, it matters a lot. Look for schools where it is less important.
- Rank won’t guarantee your major. You’ll still need extra curriculars, test scores, leadership, etc. Don’t wait too long to start working on those.
