I completed my Bachelors in Electronics & Communication Engineering from G.H. Patel College of Engineering and Technology, Sardar Patel University in 2010. Since then I have been working on getting experience in the same field. During these five years of professional experience, I acquired enough knowledge about various areas of industry working at different positions and this has stimulated me to think again “at present where I am and now what should be my long-term career goal? after a couple of days of self-evaluation about my experiences , skills and interests finally I decided to make a career in Network Engineering field but then the another question comes into mind “How far I have gained Network Engineering Skills? I realized that seeking Bachelor’s degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering and gaining industrial experience are not sufficient and competent enough. It was then requisite for me to extend the horizon of my knowledge and polish Network engineering skills. In order to achieve these learning goals, I found course-ware of MS degree in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on Network and Security at Steven Institute of Technology (SIT) most appropriate. It has the perfect blend of core and specialization courses that will help me sharpen my concepts of Electrical Engineering.
During my under-graduation, the first time in my final year I learned about “Computer Networks”. The Subject was covered with fundamentals of networking like different network topologies, OSI model layers, IP addressing and different networking protocols (TCP/IP, SNMP). At that time, I realized the subject was not only intuitive and easy to understand but its use and implementation could be seen everywhere around us. Since then I became determined to assimilate as much knowledge of the sphere as possible, both theoretical and practical, and also to implement said knowledge in practical pursuits.
Post my under-graduation, I joined Transit Electronics Pvt. Ltd in 2010, which provides consultation, designing, installation and maintenance support for Security, Networking, and safety integration systems. During my tenure, most of the time I worked as solution architecture, where I acquired knowledge of not only active components of Network like switches, Routers and Access points but also passive components for interconnecting various devices. I also gained practical knowledge of how to build a good network including implementation of different network topologies , advantages of hierarchal network design, use of different layer switches and their different types, VLAN Architecture, importance of redundant network links in case of network failure, firewall for protecting network against malicious attack, knowledge of Network management software, integration of voice and video(IP CCTV) with existing data network and their manageability. Besides that I was involved in understanding business goals and technical requirements of end customers which is the first step for designing network and because of that I got chance to interact with so many OEMS(Cisco , HP , D-Link , Allied Telesis) and their wide range of networking products to provide cost effective and advance in technological solution.
Currently, I am associated with Kulite semiconductor wherein we are manufacturing electronic pressure transducer. I am assigned the task of functionality test of the electronic pressure sensor. This has helped me to create more strong foundation of electrical engineering field and acquired new skills for self-advancement.
I am applying to SIT because of your MS in EE program after participating in your Graduate Open House back in March and being able to interact with faculty members as well as my co-workers who are current students of MS in EE program gave me all the information I needed to feel confident about joining Stevens. I would like to contribute towards Network Information Systems research thrust area. SIT reputation for excellence in leading innovation in engineering, Science, and technology has been the catalyst of my decision to attend graduate school.
